Esdieff

Put device models to work.

Esdieff is a command-line tool and Rust library for exploring, checking and testing connected-device models written in Semantic Definition Format (SDF), defined by IETF RFC 9880.

Explore connected-device interfaces, catch model mistakes, compare revisions and generate useful test values.

Open source. First release, 0.1.0.

A silent 20-second demo. Check a thermostat model, then generate test inputs. 5.25 °C falls within its limits but fails its half-degree rule.

Ripscope

Fast C navigation. A familiar workflow.

Find definitions, follow callers and trace assignments in C with Ripscope. Written in safe Rust, it speaks cscope's command line and query protocol, with integrations for Vim, Neovim and Emacs.

No compiler or compilation database is needed. The index updates changed files, and editor searches pick up saved edits automatically.

Linux and Windows, x86-64. First release, 0.1.0.

Fastmash

Fast statistics. Smarter tables.

I built Fastmash, a Rust command-line tool for statistics on text and quoted CSV. It uses GNU datamash's familiar command language and adds named reports, weighted means, highest and lowest complete-record selection, text-table health checks, and ranked dataset comparisons.

Software 80-bit arithmetic and built-in locale data keep results reproducible for the same version, input, and explicit settings on supported machines.

Linux x86-64, including WSL2, and Apple Silicon macOS 15+.

RefGene quartiles: 4.2x GNU datamash 1.9's speed on an Intel laptop running native Linux, with matching output. Fastmash took 26.6 ms versus 112.8 ms.

Fastmash v0.1.0 benchmark highlights against GNU datamash 1.9 on two native Linux hosts. RefGene quartiles: 4.2x the speed on the Intel laptop and 3.8x on the AMD desktop. Four other selected jobs show speed ratios between 1.4x and 2.7x.

Experience behind the code

My backend work includes PostgreSQL, authentication, database migrations, webhook delivery and retries. I also work with integration tests, audit logs, metrics and cloud deployments.

Earlier in my career, I developed business software for a Toyota dealership and a legislative-text web application prototype for Norway's Ministry of Justice.

At the European Parliament, I contributed to the delivery of AT4AM, a web application Members of the European Parliament and their staff use to draft and manage amendments to legislative texts. Alongside my business-analysis role, I personally developed the XML schema, processing and business logic for its Legal XML component. I also coordinated an international development team.

I hold a PhD in Information Systems.
